In 2003, I began as a chaplain by counseling, mentoring, and teaching men in a Christian discipleship program at the NYC Rescue Mission. Unfortunately, at the time, I was immature, a poor example of a father, struggling with addiction issues, inconsistent, etc. Through years of personal discipleship, under the mentorship of my Pastor and many others, I worked on my own issues, reading all the literature I could find on Christian male discipleship. Soon, my weekly seminars were based on my own personal faults, focusing on the steps taken to grow in maturity and authentic Manhood. The guys like the idea that I revealed my own struggles and stupid faults rather than simply presenting to them a perfect model of Manhood. Presenting practical action steps, I partnered with men in their own journey toward maturity.

Authentic Manhood became a popular weekly occurrence every Thursday at 1 PM, spawning seminars in churches in Brooklyn, New Jersey, and Rhode Island. Today, I teach a bi-weekly, 8-week life-coaching class at St. Matthew’s AME Church in Orange, NJ, for men and women.
